A Seaside Walk.

I saw a ripple in the tide;

I felt a breeze upon my cheek;

A presence at my side,

From dusk to dawn; from sleep to sleep.

The grains of sand rolled as waves;

Cascading droplets on golden dunes;

Playing patterns close to a place,

Where I might find rest and grace.

My dreams my own can never be!

The path I walk by rugged sea;

Well trod by many more than me!

To search the depths of every lee.

I know that though I may choose;

A decision is made, I cannot lose!

Tied close to my heart the thoughts;

My mind, my spirit long have wrought.

There is a power beneath the wind;

Where the swelling surf leaps untamed.

Renewed a beacon breathes aflamed;

Fed, my life blood surges untrimmed.

Beauty lies encompassing all;

A merging of heavenly and earthly walls.

Intermingled the daily play;

Reassurance passively links an open way.
