Life Challenge

When we are young we look only for the day and not for the morrow;

We do not worry about our actions; we have no forethought.

When we grow old we look back and wonder why we did what we did.

In the darkness you do not have to face reality, you can hide.

You may feel safe and secure beyond accusation or accountability.

Light brings a stark reality.

We will feel guilt or exoneration.

Our actions may bear inspection and validate our culpability.

Our minds may find respite.

Passion cannot be kindled from dead embers.

Rotting timber will crumble back to the earth.

Sloth creeps upon the mind and swallows the soul.

Fire is absent and the cold engulfs all.

Idleness destroys everything.

The variables of the weather heed no restriction.

Change results from apathy and inaction.

No surface remains unmarked by the elements.

Life, weather beaten, flows as it will;

Its speed unaffected by our will,

Forms the structure of self evidence.

Pause if you can!

Reach out if you will.

Be touched long enough.

Learn why every experience brings choice.
