BREAKFAST

Toast; White bread browned and buttered.

Strange isn't it;

Not rye or whole wheat,

Coarse and unrefined;

But the whitest white flour,

Baked;

With smooth, soft texture.

Two slices;

Always better than one;

More filling;

Complementing each.

Golden butter dripping;

Through pockets deep;

Waiting perhaps for more;

Bright fresh, sweet strawberry jam;

Or tangy tasteful marmalade;

Accompanied by tea.
