JOHN
Another face, another name;
Not a figure in the "Hall of Fame."
How soon are we called to Death's doorway?
To wave a hand at passers by;
We have no time to stop,
When on our bed we lie;
The time is not ours to choose, when to die!
You lived!
In what you did!
In who you are!
Not in who you were!
Your legacy remains to share;
So many images stand out,
A boy who became a Star.
Laughter is your precious gift.
Friends! You have many;
They remain, in memory;
Waiting for the next moment,
Of comedy;
A polished line, ad-libbed;
A movie scene, action filled;
Simple, delicious, succinct;
Pan-faced, delivered by instinct.
Kathleen O'Hara shared her story,
A reflection of personal glory;
Not hers; but yours;
Your touch on everyone close!
Those who wanted to know you;
Those who soon knew;
You were interested in them;
A piece of you, freely given.
Bigger than the "Hall of Fame."
A special name, a special face;
When we take time to see,
Inside the warmth that spread,
In Uncle Buck or through SCTV.
Your place is unique!
The one and only, John Candy!
